How humans avoid deep lookahead search..

I just came across this sentence in a short essay written by Vadim Bulitko:

[...]stereo-types are pieces of precompiled knowledge that
humans use for fast reasoning in order to avoid a deeper (and thus slower) inference. [link]

Namely, the heuristic functions of humans include a bunch of precompiled information, e.g. newspapers, hear-say's, tv, radio etc...

Deep lookahead search, while resulting in a shorter execution time, requires more time during planning. It's a trade-off; how much do you want to know from your own research and how much are you willing to assume is true from a potentially unreliable source?

Some days I just LOVE computer science ... :D
